Seeds of Health to Participate in Governor’s Listening Session

MILWAUKEE (December 15, 2020) – Seeds of Health continues to fight for high quality education for the 1,300 urban Milwaukee children served by their K4-12 charter school agency. Seeds of Health champions Milwaukee Charter School Advocates for bringing charter schools together to share issues directly impacting the quality of public charter schools. This effort helps support the Seeds of Health mission.

“The Seeds of Health Agency, along with Seeds of Health parents, is pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the Governor’s Listening Session organized by Milwaukee Charter Schools Advocates,” said Jodi Weber, Assistant Executive Director, Seeds of Health. Weber and parents from Seeds of Health’s Veritas High School, Tenor High School and Seeds of Health Elementary School will provide testimonies in the December 16th, 2020 Governor’s Listening Session.

Every 2 years, the Governor prepares a budget.  K-12 education is addressed in this budget. To help ensure the equitable distribution of funding to charter schools, Seeds of Health parents will speak directly to the Governor to let him know the challenges they face and the concerns they have regarding their children’s education.  Seeds of Health takes great pride in the strong support and involvement of parents – believing they are the best advocates for things that affect the quality of education including equitable increases in per pupil funding, increased support for children with special needs and fully funded 4-year-old Kindergarten.

“The ability to have a voice to better education and educational outcomes gives us at Seeds of Health hope for the future,” said Weber as she looks forward to participating in the Governor’s Listening Session with hope that the outcome will impact the funding allocated to charter schools.
